18:48:58 by kai | Views: 695 | Comments: 1
At the WWDC, Apple announced a few significant changes to its MacBook line.
Yes, that above is an SD-slot! It has replaced the ExpressCard slot in a few MacBook Pro models. The 15" MacBook Pro gets the same revolutionary built-in battery as the 17" version, which means Lithium-Polymer with up to 7 hours of battery life. The battery has an estimated lifespan of 1,000 recharges = 5 years. - The entry 15" MacBook Pro now starts at HK$13,188, has a 2.53GHz CPU and does away with the additional 9600M GPU. 4GB RAM with a 250GB HD.
- HK$15,388: 15", 2.66/4GB/320GB/9400+9600M
- HK$17,688: 15", 2.8/4GB/500GB/9400+9600M
- The 17" MacBook Pro specs are unchanged, but it's the only MacBook with an ExpressCard slot. Price dropped to HK$19,188.
As for the 13" Unibody... it has been rebranded the MacBook Pro, with the same 7-hour battery:
- HK$9,288: 2.26/2GB/160GB/9400M
- HK$11,688: 2.53/4GB/250GB/9400M
Last but not least, the MacBook Air also received a couple facelifts and welcomed price slashes: - HK$11,688: 1.86/2GB/120GB/9400M
- HK$13,988: 2.13/2GB/128SSD/9400M
So there you have it, the new line of MacBooks with a ton of 8s in the pricing. Who's ordering one of these new MacBooks? Head on over to the Apple Hong Kong store to get all the details. ...

Snow Leopard shipping in September 2009, US$29 upgrade | 09 Jun 09 |
08:38:25 by kai | Views: 433 | Comments: 0
I'm following the live blog updates from WWDC at Engadget.com and must admit it's been pretty exciting so far.
One of the exciting pieces of news is of Snow Leopard (aka OS X 10.6), which finally gets a release date of September 2009 and will be a US$29 upgrade for Leopard users. This is a reasonable cost and may entice me to finally order that MacBook I crave. More details available here. Speaking of MacBooks... MacBooks have had a slight overhaul: faster speeds, lower prices, and even an SD-card slot! (never thought I'd see one on a MacBook)There isn't much more I want... if I ordered a MacBook tomorrow, I wonder if I can receive it within 3 days? ...

pocketnow.com has an unboxing video of the HTC Snap, which is the successor to the HTC Excalibur aka Dopod C720w we reviewed from waaay back. Dopod C720w (HTC Excalibur) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74Uz_TkVmaM In terms of specs, the Snap is running with a QVGA 2.4" non-touchscreen, with a Qualcomm MSM7225 CPU clocking in at 528MHz. It has 256MB ROM and 192MB RAM, plus microSD expansion. It's a triband GSM (850/900/1800/1900) and dualband UMTS (900/2100) device, so if you're importing this into the US, you can use it, but you won't get 3G data. In has a 2.0MP camera on the back with no autofocus, plus it packs WiFi, aGPS, and Bluetooth 2.0 +EDR.

Things that make you go Bing!!! | 29 May 09 |
07:00:00 by jawis | Views: 303 | Comments: 0

Microsoft is trying again on the Search engine front. The name is called Bing. Kind catchy, in a short, concise name sort of way.
"I wonder where I should buy my next pda? I know! Let me Bing it!!"
Bing claims to be a more refined, organized search engine. For example it will help organise your search in a way so that you can have reviews or price comparisons of products all on one page. It also aims to make organizing business trips and holidays in quicker, easier steps.
Will this be what breaks the Google search King?
